The journey doesn't just stop here

    When Alex Tan started Perfectus AV Pte Ltd in 2003, he had no money to buy equipment or hire extra help.  He had to “sell himself” as a freelance technical crew and took on everything and anything;

   No job is too small or unimportant; you must be humble and grab every chance you have; every chance is a possible opportunity to something bigger.  ~ Alex Tan

    Perfectus AV started out with just S$20,000, 1 guy, and a whole lot of heart.  With tireless dedication and determination to make it work, Alex Tan built the company up – from 2 clients to a pool of at least 10 major clients; 3 staff to a staff count of 20; 1 small office in Singapore to several offices within the Asian region – all within a four-year timeframe.

    Even when things were looking up, what seemed as a strong partnership ultimately failed due to differences in vision, and thus Perfectus was on its own again.  With a gung-ho attitude, Alex took calculated risks and with little sacrifices here and there, persevered through it, not wanting to let the company, his staff and himself, down.

    With such determination and humility, he kept in mind his goal to be a better service provider in technical consultancy and offer a unique and personalized experience to clients.  As such, Perfectus was able to win, and more importantly maintain, its list of big clients, many of whom are MNCs and leading event management companies.  Despite being up against many competitors in such a small industry, Perfectus has been able to grow exponentially in reputation, staff strength and presence in the region.

    Now, Perfectus has garnered a reputation as an excellent and trusted technical consultant and service provider in both the technical and operational aspect for events, and with offices around the region, supporting its clientele better, many of which are located overseas.

    Alex continually works towards bringing the company further into the future – the journey doesn’t just stop here.

    The Shell LiveWIRE programme has been a great learning experience, being able to network and exchange experiences with peers, along with receiving valuable guidance from the judges.  Perfectus has already benefited from participating in this, and with the exposure, in return provided business ventures to pursue its goal in growing the company and expanding further into the region.

  No Risk No Gain.
We need to take calculated risk and be confident of ourselves.
The journey is tough but the destination is worth it.

  Change is vital. You must constantly re-invent yourself and exceed your own expectation. You must constantly be on the look-out for better practices, better products, better know-hows and even better business partners. To me, the maxim “if it works, don’t change it” is nonsensical. You must be able to re-innovate to prosper. If you stagnate, you are out of the competition.
