The biennial Shell LiveWIRE Awards is here again! Young entrepreneurs stand a chance to walk with up to $25,000 in cash prizes, a boost in visibility to their businesses and valuable networking opportunities. They will also enjoy opportunities to attend complimentary workshops on key aspects of running a business.

 

This prestigious award has so far honoured more than 30 budding entrepreneurs in Singapore. Some of the illustrious award winners include Mr Leonard Tan from PurpleClick Pte Ltd, Mr Sam Yap from Cherie Hearts Group of Childcare Centres Pte Ltd, Mr Amit Sujan from IT CAN Pte Ltd and Ms Sandra Neo from Media Associated Displays Pte Ltd

 

Jointly organised by Shell Companies in Singapore, the Institute of Technical Education, ITE Alumni Association and Singapore Press Holdings (Chinese Newspapers Division), the Shell LiveWIRE Awards offers applicants valuable training workshops in business management.

 
Furthermore, winners of the Shell LiveWIRE Awards who subsequently wish to expand overseas and build international links will also have the opportunity of tapping into the Go and Trade Grant, an initiative under the Shell LiveWIRE international programme.

 

With the rise of youth entrepreneurship education in recent years, more people are taking up the entrepreneurial challenge at an even younger age. This year, a new category in the award, LiveSPARK, is introduced to secondary schools, junior colleges, ITE, and polytechnics to encourage entrepreneurial spirit amongst students.

  

 

Shell LiveSPARK Awards 2011

 

Shell LiveSPARK Awards is a new award under the Shell LiveWIRE programme. It aims to reward and recognise students who demonstrate the spirit of entrepreneurship. Students are not required to have a business to qualify for the award.

 

There are two award groups, namely secondary and post-secondary. The post-secondary category comprises students from Junior Colleges, ITE and Polytechnics.

 

All students, up to the age of 21 years, supported by their respective educational institutions, are eligible to participate. Ex-students who have graduated within a year at the point of application are also eligible. . 

 

Applicants will be judged under three main categories in the competition - Education and Experimentation, Enterprise and Personal Qualities.

 
In Education and Experimentation, applicants are to submit write-ups on their entrepreneurship education journey, through various talks, seminars and courses that they have attended. Applicants will then be evaluated on how they have experimented with entrepreneurship, such as organising and/or participating in sales activities like bazaars, competitions or school projects.

 

For the category of Enterprise, special recognition will be accorded to applicants who have demonstrated their entrepreneurial spirit through engagement in real businesses and services.

 

In the last category, Personal Qualities, a face-to-face interview will be conducted by a panel of judges to determine applicants’ innovativeness, leadership and passion for entrepreneurship.

 

Winners of each award group will receive a trophy and cash prizes of up to S$1,000.
